We’re all about the “Give It All” mindset. Bringing your best to every moment and task in front of you, no matter how big or small the task. Dedicating yourself to taking one step at a time to create something amazing. Realizing you have in you the power to do incredible things.
It’s a mindset we model after our namesake Joe DiMaggio’s focus on making the most of each at-bat. His record-breaking 56-game hitting streak didn’t happen because he had lofty dreams of being a legend; it happened because each time he stepped up to the plate, he brought with him the same dedication and devotion to personal excellence —every game, every time.
A single at-bat may not seem like much. But small steps, done regularly and consistently, build up to great things. Why? Because your daily habits determine your life, goals and dreams. It all starts with deciding you’re ready to “step up to the plate” and Give It All, each and every day.
A Give It All mindset can make history and leave your mark on the world.
We want to inspire and encourage you to Give It All towards whatever your goals are, whether they’re to get that promotion, save up for that dream trip or lost 15 pounds. To that end, we’re highlighting some people making waves in the world today with their own Give It All attitudes.
The Give It All Award
The Give It All award is a monthly acknowledgment presented to those people who truly demonstrate the Give It All spirit. Give It All honorees are committed, passionate, courageous and — above all else — inspiring.
Honorees come from all industries and walks of life, and we feature an exclusive interview with each one to learn more about what drives them, how they’ve achieved their big goals, and how you too can invoke a Give It All spirit to achieve yours.
James Altucher: Taking “Give It All” to the Next Level
James Altucher is an entrepreneur, author, blogger, trader and investor who lives the “Give It All” mindset in a way we’ve never seen before. His career has been prolific — he’s launched more projects and reinvented himself more times in the past 20 years than most people do in several lifetimes — and his writing is equally prolific. He shares everything with his readers, from his worst failures to his personal struggles, and he shares it on a level that makes him a category of one in the blogosphere.
On his blog and in his messages to his email list subscribers, James spills his thoughts, heart and soul out regularly in epic missives that hold nothing back. Whether he’s writing about starting a business, changing your life or dealing with negative people, he dives deep and leaves it all on the page. (Or, rather, screen.) He actually refers to writing as “bleeding”:
If your blood stops, you have a heart attack. You die. If your blood doesn’t leak onto the page, your post will have a heart attack. It will die. If you can’t say something with blood, then don’t say it, else it won’t reach the heart. – 10 Rules About Blogging
We’ll be honest; the thought of keeping up with James sometimes exhausts us. He’s one part Renaissance Man, one part Energy Bunny, and 100% transparent. His “Ask Altucher” podcast provides regular AMA sessions for listeners eager to get even deeper into his unique and always-spinning mind. It’s for all of these reasons that we are confident in saying Mr. Altucher is without a doubt one of the truest embodiments of the “Give It All” mindset you’ll find online today.
